The owners of this long narrow basement wanted to create a t.v. watching area, a home office and a storage area. The Solution
The laundry area was previously located where the t.v. is shown in the plan opposite. Since this was the largest space in the basement it made sense to turn this into the t.v. area.
The laundry area was relocated opposite the stairs in the narrowest part of the basement that was basically just a walkway.
The home office could have been located to the previously uninsulated “cantina” at the front of the house. However, the clients opted to make this a dedicated storage room. This left a small nook for a desk, and a library/office area in the open space at the foot of the stairs.
