This awkward L-shaped living room had these clients stumped for a suitable furniture layout to seat 8 people. They also wanted to be able to sit comfortably by the fire and read/chat/enjoy a glass of wine when they are alone.
The Solution
A pair of wing chairs next to the fireplace with a round tufted ottoman perform double duty in this layout. The main seating group takes the form of a "u"-shape, diagonally oriented toward the fireplace. The seating consists of a pair of apartment-size or demi-sofas (6 ft. long) and a 3-seater sofa (7 ft. long). When these clients have 6 guests, they can simply move the two wing chairs to close in the “u”, thus providing the requisite seating for 8.
