Sharyn Kastelic loves using a CAD program to move walls and re-arrange furniture… “which is a creative method that allows me to get my head into a space to see the possibilities.”
Sharyn is a serious design professional who starts each decorating project with a single goal in mind – to supercede client expectations. “Getting to know my clients is always the first step. Once I find out what they want, I develop a plan that incorporates all of my client requirements, in ways that are both functional and stylish. Then I try to go a little bit further. If I can’t design something my clients wouldn’t have thought of on their own, then I’m not succeeding as a designer.”
Sharyn is an active member of the Canadian Decorators’ Association and has received three CDECA Awards: 2015 in the Bathrooms Under $25,000 category for her “Light & Airy Bathroom” project; 2012 in the Bathrooms Under $25,000 category for her “Guest Basement Bathroom” project; and 2009 in the Renovation category for her “Ranch Kitchen Reno” project. She enjoyed being a regular guest designer for the Toronto Star “Best Laid Plans” column from 2008-2011.
After graduating with Honours from Humber College as a Certified Interior Decorator, Sharyn established her own company, Primed By Design, which was incorporated in 2004. Sharyn has an Honours B.A. from U.of T. and has worked for an architecture firm, and a decorating/design firm.
