On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of a new home decor shop in the Caledonia Design Centre at Caledonia & Castlefield in Toronto. It’s called Artemano – they carry very unique, contemporary Asian furniture, lighting and accessories.
The atmosphere was very festive – there were 2 open bars and delicious hot gourmet hor d’ouvres served by catering staff. To ensure the event was well attended and to create some buzz, everything in the store was 50% off for one night only. I was very tempted to purchase some of the fantastic cut-out metal lighting. They had quite a few different types – cylindrical or round, pendants or lamps with different cut-out designs.
They had also invited Canadian musician Chantal Kreviazuk to perform. She sang and played a few well-known favourites, such as “Feels Like Home”. She was just great.
“Artemano’s creations originate from South and Southeast Asia, particularly India, Indonesia and Thailand. It is there that an unrelenting quest for substance unfolds: ancestral, exotic pieces rich in local flavor and craftsmanship are selected and shipped to Canada, then re-purposed in a more functional design that fits the Western way of life where their new life begins.”
Artemano is a good source for that unique one-of-a-kind conversation piece of which you will never grow tired – check it out at www.artemano.ca or better still drop by in person.
