Benjamin Moore Colour of the Year

The 2016 colour of the year for Benjamin Moore is:   OC-117 Simply White. The suspense is over!   And interestingly, several other paint companies also chose white as their colour of the year.

Ellen O’Neill, Creative Director for Benjamin Moore says, “White is transcendent, timeless, its versatility unrivalled.  From weathered wainscoting to crisp canvas shades, porcelain tile to picket fences, white is everywhere in every form–that’s why we chose it ….”

White is used in 4 different ways:

1. Ambiance. Layered whites and diffused light creates ambiance.  The interplay of different whites and light creates nuance and subtle beauty.

2. Definition.  Striking contrasts and bold lines create definition.  Angles and edges become sharply defined as white is cut with black or bold colour.

3.  Texture. Hand-hewn beams against white walls create texture. White provides a crisp backdrop that enhances the warmth and texture of natural wood.

4. Focus. Energizing colour and crisp white borders creates focus.  White frames and flatters….white is the guide that directs the eye.

Try any of these options – it’s so simple with Simply White (OC-117)!
